Description

This course provides a general overview of the legal and public policy issues in the domestic regulation of the dynamic communications and information industry including, broadcasting, cable, telephone, mobile, and broadband services. Students should be able to demonstrate the ability to be creative, thoughtful and interdisciplinary policy advocates and problem solvers in this complex area. Evaluation: Assessment for the course will be based on a simulated rulemaking exercise drafting comments and reply comments (60%), a hot topic in the industry interview and class presentation (20%) and class participation/attendance (20%) ** Please be sure to talk to me if you are also interested in an externship at the FCC or other regulatory agency involved in this area. There is great learning value in these placements—and I will be happy to assist you in securing a position.
