Description
This course provides an in-depth review of the laws, regulations and policies governing the entry of foreign nationals into the United States for employment and business related purposes. Students will learn the fundamental principles and defining concepts of the various temporary and permanent visa categories to learn to identify those most suitable for an individual employee. Students will also gain valuable insight into economic, social, and political considerations behind immigration law and policy for more effective representation of individuals and employers for business-related purposes. Finally, this course will include an in-depth analysis of the employment-based changes proposed and implemented in the last two to three years.

Immigration laws and policies are constantly changing. To provide the most up-to-date materials applicable to the topic of each class, including court cases, agency memoranda, and published articles, the assigned text for this course is a reader that compiles current immigration law cases and content. Student attendance is critical since the text does not cover all nuances presented in this course.
