Description

This course covers the various principles and rules that govern lawyer conduct. While virtually all other law school courses focus primarily on issues of concern to clients, this course addresses issues of primary concern to you as law practitioner and future professional leader. In addition to satisfying the ABA requirement on professional responsibility, this course will introduce students to (1) the purposes and concepts behind the Rules of Professional Conduct, (2) the need to recognize and grapple with the ambiguities of the rules, (3) the role of facts in determining one’s legal ethics obligations, and (4) how the rules do (and don’t) fit together into a coherent whole.
