Description

This course will cover a wide variety of equitable and legal remedies in contract, tort, property law, and constitutional law (i.e. civil rights/civil liberties) cases, in both state and federal court. The first half of the course will cover equitable remedies, including injunctions (and contempt-of-court sanctions for violations of injunctions); specific performance, rescission and reformation of contracts; and restitution. The second half of the course will cover legal remedies, including compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorneys’ fees. A major them in this course will be constitutional limitations on remedies.
