Description
This course will provide an overview of environmental law. It will begin with background on the common law roots of environmental law, and the application of administrative law, constitutional and federalism principles to environmental issues. It will then focus on some of the key federal environmental statutes (the National Environmental Policy Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act) and proposed climate change legislation. There will be particular attention to analyzing complex statutes and regulations and the practical application of the environmental laws.
