Description

The primary purpose of this course is to explore the interplay of gender, labor, and migration in response to globalizing trends. We will examine the role of international law and institutions in addressing this dynamic from a feminist perspective. We will analyze the causes of the increasing feminization of migration for work, including the feminization of poverty and the demand for migrant women’s labor. We will also explore the potential for legal frameworks at the international, regional, and national levels to address labor market segregation by sex, gender-based violence, and discriminatory treatment of women migrant workers, among other matters affecting women in the workplace.
