The first two sessions of this class on Tuesday, Aug. 24 and Tuesday, Aug. 31 will meet in classroom NT07 (Warren building, terrace level). After that, all remaining sessions will meet in the regularly scheduled seminar room, NT03.
Description
In the practice of law, clients look to their attorneys to be not only an authority regarding legal interpretation, but to also understand and anticipate the nuances of complex transactions. When properly analyzed and crafted, a legal agreement will clearly allocate and describe legal responsibility and risk and, at the same time, articulate the obligations of the parties for future action. Combining discussions of relevant laws and legal scenarios, along with drafting and negotiation assignments, this class continues the academic introduction of contracts and offers essential skills for success in practice.

You might also want access to Transactional Skills: How to Structure and Document a Deal, Second Edition, Stephen L. Sepincuk and John Francis Hilson. This text is a helpful source of information.
In a typical week, we will discuss a drafting concept in class and then review. An assignment will then be posted to assess your understanding of the concept which we discussed in class. In the following class, we will review the assignment and introduce a new concept. Each class will build on the materials learned in the prior weeks. Further, from time to time, I will also use examples of good and bad drafting which I see in my practice and ask you to analyze and ancritique them.
