Description
In the first half of the semester, we will look at what makes up international law – the subjects of such law and the sources of its rules – and how international law is implemented (or not) at the domestic level. In the second half of the semester, we will examine how states and international organizations craft and use international law to deal with specific issues, such as international human rights, international environmental issues, and the use of force. We will also consider some theoretical perspectives on international law.
