Description
Students in this two-semester clinic represent people with mental and physical disabilities in a variety of contexts: special education advocacy; discrimination claims under Titles I-III of the American with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the DC Human Rights Act; alternatives to guardianship; drafting powers of attorney and advanced psychiatric directives; legislative policy work; and international human rights settings, among others. The clinic focuses especially on the interaction between people with disabilities and the various systems that affect their lives. Students work in teams of two under the supervision of faculty members and are responsible for all aspects of the client's case. The clinic is open to second-, third-, and fourth-year students
