This course explores major global health challenges, laws, policies and programs. Students will be introduced to current and emerging global health priorities and analyze possible solutions and links between international human rights law and global public health policy. Classroom discussions will examine how human rights law can be an important tool for addressing current global health challenges, such as improving mental health systems, creating smoke free environments, reducing the incidence of HIV/AIDS, reducing maternal mortality, and protecting older persons and other groups in situations of vulnerability.
