Description

The primary objective of this course is to provide you with an introduction to the major doctrinal components of inheritance law: intestacy, wills and trusts. To this end, the course is designed to reflect the following fundamental Atruths@ regarding Wills, Trusts and Estates (hereinafter TNE): First, due to our focus on issues related to death and dying, you will undoubtedly experience varying degrees of discomfort. You, however, shouldn=t dress in all black (literally or figuratively) -- TNE is a lively and rewarding area of study and practice. Second, while TNE is often fraught with complexities and technicalities, it is an area of law based on one simple premise of the human condition B AYou can=t take it with you!@* As such, we will go beyond the technicalities and consider the larger implications of the role of law, property, morality and mortality in our culture.
