Description

This course examines issues related to legislation and the legislative process. Judicial interpretation of statutes will be the primary focus of the course, with an emphasis on communication between the courts and the Congress. Many aspects of statutory interpretation will be explored, including various theories of statutory interpretation, the canons of statutory construction, extrinsic sources of statutory meaning, agency interpretation of statutes, and legislative drafting.
