Description
Examines the laws, policies and practices for children in the criminal justice system (both as accused and witnesses) across various countries in a comparative child rights and human rights perspective. Among topics covered are international instruments, national laws, and NGOs and State/private sector interventions in different countries and regions, including various international conventions and protocols and relevant treaty laws. Students will analyze case studies and field interventions, and evaluate the effective methods for protecting the rights of children. The professor has conducted extensive research on the Indian situation and experiences from the Indian context will be shared throughout the course.
