Description

The course reviews the normative frameworks in International Law that specifically address prevention of human rights violations regarding genocide, torture and more generally international crimes. It analyze international efforts to establish effective mechanisms to prevent mass atrocities and international crimes. The course provides the opportunity for a critical examination of the architecture of universal and regional bodies (including political organs and human rights protection mechanisms) with reference to successes and failures in prevention.
