The first class will be an overview of the course, a general discussion of the state and federal appellate systems, and a discussion of an article by Judge Richard Posner, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit: Judicial Opinions and Appellate Advocacy in Federal Courts--One Judge's Views, 51 Duquesne Law Review (Winter 2013).
