NOTICE TO STUDENTS ON THE WAIT LIST: So far, I have never had students who wanted to take this course excluded because they could not get into the class. By the time add/drop period is over, everyone who so desired has always managed to get into the class. I cannot make any promises that this will work again, but I thought you might find the information useful. A SYLLABUS AND FIRST ASSIGNMENT are usually posted about a week before the first class. You should attend and prepare if you want to take the class, even if you are still on the wait list.
Description
This course covers the law of secured lending, focusing on loans secured by personal property as governed by Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code. Students are introduced to the creation, perfection, priority, and enforcement of security interests, and to the policies underlying the system of secured credit. Some attention is given to loans secured by real property, as well as to basic principles of finance and business. The course also covers some general principles of bankruptcy law as they relate to security interests. No prior knowledge of business, finance, economics, or bankruptcy is required or expected.

Mann, Elizabeth Warren & Jay Lawrence Westbrook. It's already published. Another comprehensive commercial law statutory supplement will also work just as well, or almost, provided it contains the 2010 amendments to UCC Article 9.
