Description
This research seminar is on the problems of the poor in America. The classes feature lectures by policy experts and direct service providers on hunger, homelessness, unemployment, health care, tax policy, inner city education and other problems affecting the poor.. Students will be assigned internships for approximately 10 hours per week with the policy and service organizations represented by the speakers as well as other similar organizations. At the end of the term students will do a short paper describing their internship and what they got out of it. Grading is on a Pass-fail basis and enrollment is limited.
Relevant readings in government reports, etc., will be assigned.
