Description

This seminar will provide an overview of renewable energy law, focusing on wind energy, solar energy, grid management, and emerging technology. Covered topics will include cases which touch and concern the policy and development of renewable energy at the utility scale, as well as lower capacity distributed generation. The course will look at state laws, federal laws, environmental regulation, land use, leasing, and emerging interconnection issues with respect to renewable energy law. The goal of the course will be to prepare students for professional opportunities in renewable energy, and to familiarize students with relevant and significant legal issues in renewable energy law.

Given that this course is being taught for the first time, the syllabus will operate in a rolling fluid fashion. Given time constraints, it is possible that not all the material listed on the syllabus will be covered in the course. Material from one listed "Class" may take more than one week to cover. The class will, at a minimum, seek to cover all material from listed Classes 1-9, and additional material as time provides. For any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Professor.
