Description

Legislation and Public Policy will examine the role and functioning of Congress in our government. We will discuss the relationship between Congress and the other branches of government, including its role in oversight and the nominations process. We will also examine the law making function of Congress, including the significance of the structure of each house of Congress and their rules. We will also examine the political forces at work in the election of members of Congress and the way in which they perform their responsibilities in office. Finally, we will explore the roles of lobbyists and money in the legislative process, including a discussion of campaign finance law.
