Description

This is a survey course in different methods for resolving international disputes. It will introduce you to the various international dispute resolution mechanisms that are available to sovereigns (and private parties either directly or through the espousal of their claims) through an examination of decisions from various international fora including the International Court of Justice, the World Trade Organization, ICSID, NAFTA, other international arbitral tribunals, as well as national courts. In addition, the course will also examine the use of mediation and conciliation through the offices of, for example, the Secretary General of the United Nations or ad hoc working groups of interested states.
