Description

"During the course of this semester, we will address a range of topics dealing with the law of amateur sports. We will engage these topics through analyzing cases, rules, statutes, and current events. In doing so, students will:

  • • be introduced to the basic regulatory frameworks that govern youth, high school, collegiate, and Olympic sport;
  • • explore the concept of amateurism and contemplate its proper place on the American sporting landscape;
  • • learn to critically evaluate the policy considerations that drive legal developments in amateur sports law; and
  • • be exposed to the various roles lawyers can play in the sports industry.
