Description

This course will serve as an introduction to the basics of patent litigation and practice. It will cover aspects of litigating before U.S. Federal Courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, as well as post- grant review proceedings before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Through classroom discussion, written assignments, and mock exercises, students will explore a range of topics including pre-litigation considerations, pleadings, PTO strategies, claim construction proceedings, technical fact and expert depositions, motions practice, and trial. This course will be an ideal springboard for a further study of patent law, both during the summer and during the school year. No previous patent experience is required.
