Description

Oftentimes, organizations lack the capacity or resources to undertake legislative reform, legal research, and/or policy analysis. The PEEL Practicum invites project proposals from local, national, and international groups that need legal assistance to fulfil organizational goals. Projects vary in scope and content depending on student interest and the needs of the partnering organization. Past project topics have included animal welfare, climate litigation, renewable energy, environmental justice, and water regulation. With the supervision and evaluation by licensed attorneys, the PEEL Practicum combines experiential learning and litigation skills to ensure that each student: 1) Engages in a range of legal advocacy on behalf of an organization, 2) Masters core lawyering and litigation skills; 3) Gains valuable professional experience; and, 4) Understands the role of lawyers. It is our hope and intention that the Practicum will provide you with exciting and meaningful learning opportunities, and that---with our guidance---you will maximize those opportunities.
