Description

"Perspectives on Legal Practice": This class will help students bridge the gap between law school and their legal career. Students will have the opportunity to think critically about shaping their legal careers, their goals in doing so, and the skills necessary to achieve those goals. We will discuss building professional relationships, interviewing, and the breadth of experiences available to persons with law degrees. The class will also explore lawyering as a profession and delve into topics such as professionalism and the lawyer-client relationship, by analyzing and reflecting on the students’ placement experiences. Students will also have an opportunity to practice lawyering skills such as negotiation, oral presentation, and information gathering. The class will be taught primarily through simulations, group exercises, and guided discussions. We will also be hearing from guest speakers with varied careers and experiences.
