This course will focus on the practice, procedure, and strategy concerning federal white-collar investigations and prosecutions with the goal of developing your witness interviewing, memorandum writing, and analysis skills. Topics include the definition of and theory behind white-collar crime; techniques used to investigate alleged white-collar offenses; prosecutorial discretion; plea bargaining; and grants of immunity, entrapment, privileges, and other common defenses. Substantive law topics will also include conspiracy, mail and wire fraud, bribery and public corruption, false statements, perjury, and money laundering.
