Description
The primary purpose of this course is to explore issues in international human rights law as they relate to concepts of gender, gender identity and intersectionality, as well as their application and enforceability. In a participatory way, the course will examine the underlying assumptions, principles, and approaches of universal and regional international human rights instruments and bodies regarding gender, relations, gender-based violence and discrimination. The course will review emerging issues in international human rights such as sexual and reproductive rights, rights of women with disabilities, international protection of trans persons, among others. The evaluation will consist of a take-home exam or the drafting of an advocacy document. There are no prerequisites.
