Description

Law 706-001 Adv. Civ. Pro: Complex Litigation in Civil and Human Rights: From Brown v. Board of Education to Dukes v. Wal-Mart, cases seeking to advance social change have often utilized complex procedural mechanisms. With a focus on civil rights and international human rights litigation, students will consider the strategy, purposes, and tactics of class action litigation as well as discovery, trials, remedies, and arbitration in complex cases. This course covers much of the core legal doctrine included in the traditional complex litigation seminar, but engages those issues through the lens of civil and human rights litigation. Students will engage in practical skills exercises to ground in practice their understanding of the materials. Coleman (Spring)
