Description

A survey of the multinational and bilateral agreements which govern the enforcement of copyrights across national boundaries. Explores the similarities and differences which exist between U.S. copyright and other developed countries, copyright in developing countries, and the problems of enforcing the rights of American copyright owners overseas.

In addition to covering the basics of International and Comparative Copyright, Prof. Jaszi’s Spring course will include a special focus on multinational and domestic options for the legal protection of traditional culture. In place of a final exam, students will submit a research paper on an aspect of this featured topic. This paper can be used to satisfy the Upperclass Writing requirement. Space is available, and students without prior coursework in IP are welcome. The first session is Tuesday the 13th at 3:00 PM. Feel free to e-mail pjaszi@wcl.american.edu with questions.
