Description

The subject matter for this class is the law of the American political process, one of the most fascinating and consequential areas of constitutional, statutory, and regulatory legal decisionmaking. Supreme Court decisions and legislative enactments in the past 50 years have had a momentous impact on the American political process, affecting who is eligible to vote, how votes are allocated and winners determined, and how political campaigns are run. Today, the law of the American political process plays a central role in determining who exercises political power in the United States and, in turn, the policy choices that are made at all levels of government. Please see the attached syllabus for detailed information about the specific subjects we will be addressing in this class.
