Textbooks and Other Materials

The textbook information on this page was provided by the instructor. Students should use this information when considering purchases from the AU Campus Store or other vendors. Students may check to determine if books are currently available for purchase online.

Required Books, Materials, and Subscriptions for IBT.

The following are all required for Professor Ken Anderson's Fall IBT course. (The best prices for the books are most likely online, on Amazon or another online book seller. It is essential that you get the exact edition specified - earlier editions are very different and will not work for the course.)

I. BOOKS

1. International Business Transactions: Problems, Cases, and Materials , Third Edition (2015); by Daniel C.K. Chow &Thomas J. Schoenbaum; Publisher: Wolters Kluwer Law; ISBN-13: 978-1454849414.

2. Principles of International Business Transactions ; Third Edition (2013), (Concise Hornbooks Series); by Ralph Folsom, Michael Wallace Gordon, John A. Spanogle, and Michael I. Van Alstine; Publisher: West Academic Publishing; ISBN-13: 978-0314286598.

3. Barron’s Dictionary of Business and Economics Terms ; 5th ed., 2012; ed. by Jack P. Friedman; ISBN-13: 978-0764147579.

ANY edition of the dictionary is acceptable; you are recommended to get a cheap used copy.

II. Course Materials Other Than Books:

Wall Street Journal Fall 2015 Semester Student Subscription.

(Required for class use, including weekly reaction papers)

Go to: http://student.wsj.com - follow prompts to sign up for special student rate for 15 week semester. To get the special students rate, you need to use the prompts, input University, Law School, Class, and Professor Name.

III. PDF Course Materials on MyWCL Class Webpage.

This lengthy pdf will be used in many parts of the course, but particularly for topics not taken up by the regular textbooks. It is an essential part of the course and it is recommended that you download and print it out, unless you are very comfortable reading online.

IV. Other Online Course Materials Posted to MyWCL Class Webpage

Certain other essential course materials will be posted as pdfs or links to the IBT MyWCL webpage. These materials will include some scholarly articles and other explanations, as well as old exams, the course syllabus, the course information sheet, etc. Some will be posted when the semester begins, and others will be posted as the semester progresses. You are required to be aware of materials posted to the class webpage as they are posted throughout the term.

In particular, I have decided NOT to require the Chow-Shoenbaum Documentary Supplement but instead will post pdfs of the relevant treaties and other source documents for the course. (At $78 (?!), for what is simply reprinted official text materials, I don’t want to burden you with it.) But you will not be able to follow the classes without accessing these materials.
