Textbooks and Other Materials

The textbook information on this page was provided by the instructor. Students should use this information when considering purchases from the AU Campus Store or other vendors. Students may check to determine if books are currently available for purchase online.

TBD Dycus, National Security Law and Counterterrorism Law, 5th ed. (Aspen, Aug 13, 2011). ISBN: 978-0-7355-94753. A Course Supplement will be available in Room 467. I want to clear up any confusion about the Casebook we will be using. It will NOT be Dycus's Counterterrorism Law, the book that I used the last several years. The new edition of that book will not be out until next spring. So you SHOULD buy the Fifth Edition of National Security Law when it is available in a couple of weeks, but you should NOT buy a used copy of the Counterterrorism Law book.

First Class Readings

The book we WILL be using is the new Fifth Edition of Dycus's National Security Law, which the Bookstore has ordered but which will not be available until the first week of classes. I have the page proofs, and I will post the entire first assignment -- for August 23 -- on MyWCL soon, along with the syllabus for semester. Aug. 23: Introduction; Defining Terrorism; Designation of Terrorist Organizations; Presidential War Powers to Deal with International Terrorism Marcus Materials 1-19; Casebook 67(bottom)-72(middle) (posted on MyWCL); Marcus Materials 20-26.
