Description

The law governing the proof of disputed issues of fact, functions of the court and jury, examination of witnesses, impeachment, standards of relevancy, the hearsay rule, best evidence rule, and various principles governing the admissibility of evidence under the federal rules.

The required textbook is Merritt, Simmons, Learning Evidence: From the Federal Rules to the Courtroom, Fourth Edition (2018). You must use the 4th edition. There will be copies of the book on reserve at the circulation desk in the Pence library throughout the semester. The syllabus for the first half of the semester, the reading materials for the first two classes, and a copy of the Federal Rules of Evidence will be posted on MyWCL before the start of classes.
