Description
An examination of the legal protection afforded the fruits of literary and creative endeavor under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976 as amended, including the nature of copyright protection, types of works covered, mechanisms of securing protection, and procedures for enforcement. Topics include the the public purposes of copyright; current proposals for copyright “reform;” the relationship of copyright to other forms of protection for intellectual property; and the interaction between copyright and various disruptive information technologies, from photography to cloud computing. The course will be co-taught by Prof. Peter Jaszi and Brandon Butler, Practitioner-in-Residence for the Glushko Samuelson Intellectual Property Clinic.
