Criminal Procedure I (LAW-508-002)
1. All materials for this course will be posted on the MyWCL software platform. We will not use Canvas for this course 2. The required textbook for this class is: Taslitz, Herbert, Jones, “Constitutional Criminal Procedure, Sixth Edition” Foundation Press 2021. The first class on Tuesday, August 23rd will be pre-recorded and posted on MyWCL in advance. All other classes will be in-person. 3. The reading assignment for the first class is casebook pages 1-12; 27-34.
Pretrial criminal procedure and constitutional limitations on the use of power under the Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments. Topics include arrest; search and seizure; police interrogation, confessions, lineups, and other pretrial identification procedures; use of informants; scope and administration of exclusionary rules; and the rights of indigent defendants to counsel, transcript, and other aids.
