Description

This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts and doctrines of criminal procedure in the United States. The course analyzes legal and practical problems in the administration of criminal justice from police investigation through the commencement of formal proceedings, including: arrest; search and seizure; right to and assistance of counsel; police interrogation and confessions; lineups, show ups and other pretrial identification procedures; and the exclusionary rule. The grade in the course is based on an open-book final exam.
