First Class Readings

FIRST READING ASSIGNMENT: For our first class session, please read and be prepared to discuss pages 1-30 and Problem 1 on page 42 in Ben Templin, Contracts: A Modern Coursebook [hereinafter “Templin”]. Please also read the Introduction to the Course that will be posted at the MyWCL site for the course. Optional Additional Reading: Chapter One in Marvin Chirelstein, Concepts and Case Analysis in the Law of Contracts (7th ed. 2013) [hereinafter “Chirelstein”]. SECOND READING ASSIGNMENT: For our second class session, please read and be prepared to discuss pages 30-66 in Templin. As part of your preparation for class, you should brief the cases of Hamer v. Sidway and Dougherty v. Salt on pages 37-41. I will ask you to turn your briefs in to me at this second class session so that I can help you refine your briefing techniques. Please also write out brief answers to Problems 2-6 and 8 on pages 42-44 and Problems 1-3 and 5 on pages 54-56. Optional Additional Reading: Chirelstein, Chapter Two through the end of Part A, “Promises to Make a Gift”
