The Alliance for Justice is a national association of environmental, civil rights, mental health, women's, children's and consumer advocacy organizations. Since its inception in 1979, the Alliance has worked to advance the cause of justice for all Americans, strengthen the public interest community's ability to influence public policy, and foster the next generation of advocates.
ADA is the nation’s oldest, liberal, independent political organization. It focuses on economic, military, foreign, social, and environmental issues, and maintains a political action committee (ADA/PAC). It publishes a weekly legislative newsletter for liberal activists and a quarterly newsletter.
The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence is the leading national organization committed to stopping gun violence in our communities. The Brady Center's Legal Action Project provides free legal representation to gun violence victims in lawsuits against reckless gun manufacturers, dealers, and owners. We have pioneered the use of suits by gun violence victims to challenge industry practices that lead to gun crime. The Legal Action Project also files amicus curiae briefs nationwide in support of gun violence prevention laws, including a U.S. Supreme Court brief in the Second Amendment case, District of Columbia v. Heller. Through our Gun Industry Watch program, we research and publish investigative reports exposing corrupt and dangerous gun industry practices.
The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) was founded in 1974 to combat gun violence. CSGV is a unique coalition of more than forty religious, labor, medical, educational and civic organizations. The Coalition counts more than 100,000 individual supporters nationwide. CSGV supports a ban on the importation, manufacture, sale and transfer of handguns and assault weapons, with reasonable exceptions for police, military, security personnel, gun clubs, and antique and collectable firearms stored in inoperable condition. The Coalition also supports a number of immediate steps to reduce gun violence.
The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence is the sister organization of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. It supports nationwide efforts to educate the public about the need to close illegal firearms markets.
