Communication 1904 (Argentina)
A. l904, of February 4, 1975, denouncing the fact that 40 lawyers (the names are not listed) had allegedly been arrested in Buenos Aires, without concrete charges, holding them incommunicado without recourse to the writ of Habeas Corpus.
On. February 7, 1975, the Secretariat acknowledged receipt of this claim requesting that the claimant provide additional information.
The Commission considered this denunciation during its thirty-fifth session (May 1975) and without prejudicing the claimant's right to supplement the complaint within a reasonable period of time, it decided to address the Federation of Bar Associations of the Republic of Argentina, transmitting to it the Pertinent parts of the denunciation and requesting information that will enable it to conduct an examination of the complaint at its next session, armed with more facts.
Pursuant to this decision, a note was sent to that association on July 31, 1975. In a letter dated June 12, 1975, the claimant was informed of this decision.
At the thirty-sixth session (October 1975), the Commission considered the status of the processing of this case and, in view of the fact that the Federation of Bar Associations had not replied to the request of July 31, it agreed to postpone, examination of the case until it has such reports as that organization may provide it.
