Communication 1901 and 1914 (Cuba)
1901, of January 7, 1975, denounces the general status of human rights in Cuba.
The Commission considered this communication at its thirty-fifth session (May 1975) and, in view of the fact that it referred to general matters on violations of human rights in Cuba, some of which had already been denounced previously, it agreed to take them into account in the "Report on the Status of Human Rights in Cuba" (Doc. 10-35).
1914, of March 11, 1975, denounces the trial and 23-year prison sentence of Mr. Octavio Sánchez in Cuba, conducted without the guarantees of due process and on the basis of general and political accusations.
In a note of March 7, 1975, the Commission requested the Government of Cuba to provide the corresponding information. On March 10, 1975, the claimant was informed of receipt of the denunciation.
The Commission considered this denunciation at its thirty-fifth session (May 1975) and, in view of the fact that the Government of Cuba had not yet replied to the request for case in the draft report on Cuba cited above (doc. 10-35). This decision was brought to the attention of the claimant on August 19, 1975.
