Intellectual Property Law Society
The Intellectual Property Law Society (IPLS) is the umbrella organization for intellectual property interested students. IPLS administers a weekly news and event update that is a must read for IP-interested students. It also maintains an IPLS-Alumni email listserv and regularly organizes student-alumni mixers.
The American University Intellectual Property Brief is an innovative online and print publication covering all aspects of intellectual property law and policy. Launched and managed by students, it is one of the most popular online IP news and information sources in the country.
Communications Law Society
CLS acts as a liason to the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) and brings practioners to WCL to discuss current issues in communications law.
Sports & Entertainment Law Society
The Sports & Entertainment Law Society seeks to provide students who have an interest in sports or entertainment law with a mechanism to become involved in and acquire a greater knowledge of the issues in these fields.
Fashion Law Society
The FLS focuses on a law student’s interest in the legal aspect of the fashion industry through the creation of a forum that facilitates interaction between students and ongoing fashion law issues.
Related Student Organizations and Publications
The Moot Court Honor Society regularly sponsors student teams to participate in intellectual property related moot court competitions, including the Giles Southerland Rich Memorial and Saul Lefkowitz moot court competitions.
The American University Law Review is the only law review in the country to publish an issue exclusively dedicated to the Federal Circuit. Each year, practitioners and academics provide a synopsis of the Federal Circuit's caseload from the previous year in five major areas of the court's jurisdiction: patent law, trademark law, government contracts, international trade, and veterans' benefits.
International Law Review regularly publishes a volume co-edited by PIJIP faculty with a focus on international intellectual property law.
Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law regularly publishes articles from the annual PIJIP IP-Gender Symposium.
