Sep 12 - PIJIP Event on The 2013 WIPO Marrakesh Treaty: Providing Access to Copyrighted Works for the Blind and Print Disabled
Today at 3pm PIJIP will host an event on the 2013 Marrekesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled. The treaty was adopted at a June 2013 Diplomatic Conference convened by the World Intellectual Property Organization. The treaty represents a significant step toward the goal of assuring equal opportunities to access text materials for all persons, without regard to disability. It is also a new departure in the history of international intellectual property law: the first international treaty with the main focus on defining minimum standards for copyright limitations and exceptions, rather than establishing conditions for enhanced proprietary rights.
