Alumni & Practitioner Involvement
The 2016-2017 Moot Court Executive Board will be hosting the first ever MCHS Alumni Event on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at City Taphouse. The Event will start at 5:00PM EST, and food will be provided. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The success of moot court events at Washington College of Law largely depends on the active participation of the greater DC legal community. Members of the Bar ensure the success of our program by judging competitions, assisting WCL faculty in the training of our regional and national teams, and by hosting workshops on oral advocacy at WCL.
The Moot Court Honor Society benefits from the wisdom and perspective of practitioners.
Competition judges are always needed and very much appreciated. Competitions typically last one to two days, during which a panelist observes and critiques some of the best oral advocates from across the country. Judges are provided summary materials, including a bench memorandum, well before a given tournament. Note that particularized knowledge of a specific area of law is not required to judge. Judges serve on three to four person panels, providing an opportunity for the judge to interact with peers in the legal community. If you would like to volunteer to judge at a competition, please email email@example.com.
