The African Justice Initiative

About Us

The African Justice Initiative (AJI) is a student-led organization of advocates working for greater justice in Africa at the American University Washington College of Law. AJI strives to fulfill a two-part mission: 1) awareness raising, and 2) creating opportunities for engagement in legal issues facing Africa. In effort to create increased discourse within the WCL community and beyond, each year AJI organizes a spring Founders Day symposium on a contemporary justice issue in Africa, and hosts several smaller events throughout the year. AJI additionally strives to address these issues by coordinating legal internships throughout the African continent. Previously, AJI sent interns to South Africa, Cameroon, Ghana, and Nigeria.

In 2012, AJI intends to further expand its internship placements.
