Dean Grossman Promotes AUWCL Abroad: Visit to Latin America Concludes with Alumni Dinner in Costa Rica and Case Before the Inter-American Court

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 9, 2013 - Dean Claudio Grossman traveled to Argentina, Costa Rica, and Chile to promote the new law school campus, recruit for AUWCL's international programs, and explore new international externship and employment opportunities for AUWCL students.

During the trip, Grossman gave a keynote address on the UN Committee against Torture in Buenos Aires at the International Congress of Criminal Law sponsored by the University of Buenos Aires Law School. He also hosted alumni for dinner in Buenos Aires, Santiago, and in San José, where conversation topics included the new Tenley Campus, externships for students, and recruiting LL.M. applicants.

While abroad, Grossman also presented a case before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Brewer Carias v. Venezuela. The case concered political persecution, violation of due process guarantees, and forced exile against a renowned professor of constitutional law, Dr. Alan Brewer Carias. UNROW students Marie Soueid (3L), Sydney Pomykata (3L) and Micheala Spero (2L) traveled to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights with Dean Grossman and Ali Beydoun, director of the UNROW Impact Litigation Clinic.
