Professor Perry Wallace Honored at Book Reception
Dean Claudio Grossman and the AUWCL community held a reception honoring the accomplishments of Professor Perry Wallace and the recent publication of his memoir by author Andrew Maraniss.
The book, Strong Inside: Perry Wallace and the Collision of Race and Sports in the South, chronicles Wallace's journey as the first African-American basketball player in the SEC.
"Perry Wallace is the kind of teacher that leads by example," said Maraniss, in his written remarks for the occasion.
Following the reception, Wallace signed copies of the book for students, staff, and guests.
"Perry is one of the giants of our time, and we are very lucky to have him," said Dean Claudio Grossman.
