American University Washington College of Law congratulates Professor Lindsay Wiley on her election as the next president of the American Society of Law, Medicine, and Ethics (ASLME).  On June 7, at the annual Health Law Professors’ Conference, Wiley, who is director of AUWCL’s Health Law and Policy Program, was nominated and elected as President by the ASLME Board of Directors. Her term will begin in October 2017.

ASLME is a nonprofit, educational organization for scholars, teachers, and professionals at the intersection of law, policy, medicine, public health, nursing, and ethics. In addition to organizing conferences and webinars, the organization publishes the Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics and (with student editors at the Boston University School of Law) the American Journal of Law and Medicine. ASLME is the primary association for health law professors at schools of law, medicine, public health, nursing, business, and social work.

AUWCL and ASLME are hosting a conference this fall set to take place at the law school Oct. 26-28. The conference will feature a keynote address from new American University President and former Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell, as well as presentations by dozens of recognized experts in the field.
