Mock Trial Team Places Second in “Tournament of Champions”

The AUWCL mock trial team won Second Place at The Summit Cup Mock Trial Competition hosted by University of Denver Sturm College of Law in Denver, Colorado the last weekend of September. The competition is an invitation only tournament of champions. All teams in this competition represented schools that won prestigious national competitions last year. Professor Elizabeth Boals, associate director of our top ranked Trial Advocacy Program, coached the team along with Elizabeth Lippy, the Trial Advocacy Program’s assistant director.
The team consisted of Alex Raby (3L), Paige Resnick (3L), James Purce (2L), and Cara Mazor (2L). They were just barely edged out by Northwestern in a 5 to 4 final round.
"We were nervous going into the weekend because we knew our competitors would be well prepared,” said the team members. “Luckily, all of our hard work paid off and we made the ten-team cut to battle it out in the final round for the championship. While our goal was to come in first, we were very happy with our performance in the finals!"
