Founders Celebration Sparks Ideas, Inspires Conversation
As we celebrate the 120th Anniversary of the founding of Washington College of Law, this spring semester features a series of Founders' programs with conferences, lectures, and panels covering a wide range of topics, including the future of international copyright, national security law, arbitration, healthcare, gender issues, the legality of how small businesses survive neighborhood gentrification, and more.
“The Founders’ Celebration programs and seminars have grown to encompass a wide range of current issues over the past 20 years,” said Dean Claudio Grossman. “This year, they will continue to enhance the quality of public debate by opening opportunities for discussion and the exchange of ideas in key areas affecting the nation and the world.”
In addition, the law school will celebrate the anniversaries of a number of different offices and programs, including:
- 20th Anniversary of War Crimes Research Office – March 29 - 30
- 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law: Examining the Role of Law Schools in Promoting and Protecting Human Rights – April 12
- 20th Annual Sylvania Woods Conference on African Americans and the Law and Awards Dinner – April 23
- 25th Anniversary of the Janet R. Spragens Federal Tax Clinic – April 15
- 45th Anniversary of The Humphrey Fellowship Program
- 10th Anniversary of the International Trade and Investment Law Society – April 14
American University Washington College of Law will also host a number of organizations, including the US Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and the American Bar Association, in its 500-seat conference center, Claudio Grossman Hall.
