Director of War Crimes Research Office Moderates Congressional Briefing on Advancing Justice for Atrocities in Iraq and Syria

 

On Feb. 10, Susana SáCouto, director of the War Crimes Research Office at American University Washington College of Law, moderated the congressional briefing, titled “Seeking Justice for Atrocities:  How the International Criminal Court Could Advance Accountability in Iraq and Syria.” The briefing before the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission was held at the U.S. House of Representative and was attended by congressional staffers, representatives from various non-governmental organizations, and the general public.

Rep. James P. McGovern (D-Mass), provided opening remarks before passing the floor over to SáCouto and the panelists, who represented organizations such as Parliamentarians for Global Action, Georgetown University School of Law, and International Criminal Court.
