AUWCL Welcomes Over 150 Employers to Annual Externship Fair

Jan. 25, 2018

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, over 150 organizations participated in American University Washington College of Law’s Spring Externship Fair. This annual event creates opportunities for students to network, interview for externships, and learn about a wide range of practice areas. The Externship Fair, organized by AUWCL’s Externship Program, is the largest single-school legal externship fair of its kind in the country, and many students obtain externships directly as a result of having attended the event. Many employers recruiting at the event were also AUWCL alumni.

The organizations participating in this year’s Fair are from all areas of legal practice and belong to both the public and private sector. They include:  AARP, American Bar Association, Aequitas, Center for International Environmental Law, Children’s Law Center, Center for Democracy and Technology, Council of the District of Columbia, Council of American-Islamic Relations, Department of Interior, DC Department of Health, Executive Office of the President,  Export-Import Bank of the United States, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Election Commission, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Peace Corps, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Treasury, U.S. International Trade Commission, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and many more.

AUWCL prides itself on offering a variety of experiential education opportunities from clinics to externships to trial advocacy. More than 400 students complete domestic and international externships each year.
